ANTI-FAMILY ANTICS REV UP AFA BOYCOTT In the midst of a boycott by AFA, the Ford Motor Company continues to lose money – and continues to do the sort of thing that got the automaker into hot water in the first place. AFA Chairman Don Wildmon said it is not surprising that Ford lost $12.7 billion last year – fueled by a $5.8 billion loss during the fourth quarter. “Nearly 650,000 individuals have signed our BoycottFord.com petition,” Wildmon said. “Most people don’t sign a pledge but simply quit buying. The boycott was not totally responsible for all of Ford’s financial problems, but it certainly contributed to them.” AFA has been boycotting the automotive giant since March 2006 because of Ford’s promotion of the homosexual agenda, but other anti-family activities have added to concerns. For example, prior to the 2006 midterm elections, the company’s support for a voter’s guide Web site endorsing homosexual marriage, stem-cell research and abortion did not help the company’s reputation. “We have asked Ford several times to remain neutral in the culture battles, as Wal-Mart recently announced they would do, but Ford has consistently refused,” Wildmon stated. Another example of the automaker’s disregard for family values: Ford continues to advertise on the FX network’s raunchy drama Dirt, a series about the sordid world of tabloid magazines. Dirt is a sleaze-fest, according to AFA director of special projects Randy Sharp. For example, Ford helped sponsor the drama’s January 16 episode, which aired a same-sex kiss between two men, which led to one man performing oral sex on the other. Other themes of the show include male and female masturbation, the use of sex toys, explicit sex scenes (heterosexual and homosexual), the gratification of sexual fetishes, the clear use of various illegal drugs by characters, violence and gore – such as a man who keeps the severed head of a victim in his wine cellar. Bizarre scenes are also a staple of the series, including a scene in which a pregnant woman is shown giving birth to kittens. Sharp said the series contains “atrocious profanity,” and in one episode alone had 91 profanities. “By far, this drama is the most graphic, vile program I’ve ever seen on television,” Sharp said, “and it comes to viewers courtesy of Ford, which has sponsored nearly every episode so far.” Wildmon said, “If consumers are bothered by Ford’s anti-family activities, we’re recommending that they buy a vehicle other than a Ford. Maybe then the automaker will think twice before choosing sides in the culture war.” To learn more about why AFA initiated the Ford boycott, visit www.boycottford.com.
